Bridal press-on nails: wedding nails for the bride, bridesmaids and guests

Sep 30, 2026
Mashmellow press-on nails by L'Adele, a milky pinkish white soft gel for a bridal look

The big day brings a long list, and nails are one of the small things that can quietly become stressful. The salon slots for wedding weekends tend to go first, and the nails you want in close-up ring photos are the ones you cannot fix on the morning. Bridal press-on nails are a calmer way to do it. You choose the shade, you check the fit weeks ahead, and on the day there is nothing left to book. This guide is for the bride, the bridesmaids and the guests who want wedding nails without the diary juggling.

Why press-on nails work for a wedding

There are a few honest reasons press-on nails suit a wedding.

  • There is no salon slot to secure on the day. You apply the nails yourself, the evening before, in your own time.
  • Every set comes with 5 spares in your size, so if one goes astray you are not stuck.
  • If a nail is a touch too wide, you file the sides down. A few strokes is usually enough.
  • They are reusable. With fresh adhesive tabs and good care, a set can be worn three to five times, so it can come on the honeymoon or to the next wedding.

They will not do everything a salon can. What you get is a clean, consistent finish that you have already seen on your hands weeks before the day.

Choosing your bridal nails

A good rule is to choose something that looks like your own nails on a very good day. Here are the shades that work well for bridal nails in the UK.

For milky white and soft pink, Mashmellow is a creamy, milky pinkish white with the clean, freshly manicured look. Vincent's Blossom is a soft nude pink inspired by blossom in spring light, and it looks like your own nails at their very best. If you love a French manicure, Classic French has a soft pink base flowing into a crisp white tip, each tip set by hand so the line follows the natural curve of your nail. That makes it a natural choice for French tip wedding nails.

For champagne and a bit of shimmer, Prosecco is a champagne coloured nude with a warm, festive glow, special enough for a wedding without being over the top. Rosy Dew is a soft rosé nude with a delicate cat-eye shimmer. It looks calm from a distance, and the light moves when you look up close. Gentle Perfection is a muted rosewood with a subtle sheen. It works at a wedding and flatters almost every skin tone.

On shape, our four options run from short to long: Round, Oval Short, Square Short and Oval Long. Round and Oval Short give the most natural look, and they are the ones to choose if you want your hands to look like your own. Oval Long is the elegant option, a little more length, still soft in outline. You can browse the whole edit in our Bridal and Wedding Nails collection.

Nails for the ring photo

Your hands will be in a lot of pictures. The ring shot, the bouquet, the hand on the arm. A few practical points help, and none of them are complicated.

  • Choose a length that suits your hands. If you are unsure, go a little shorter: a neat, slightly shorter nail almost always looks more elegant in a close-up.
  • Keep your cuticles tidy. Push them back gently in the week before, and again at the application.
  • Wear one shade across both hands. It looks calmer in photos than mixing.
  • Avoid nails that look bulky. A nail that sits neatly to your own shape looks better than one that sits proud of it.
  • Use hand cream the day before, but keep it off your nail edges right after applying, because the tabs need dry, clean nails.

Your bridal nail timeline

This is the order we would do it in.

  • 4 to 6 weeks before: order your set and do a trial run. Check the size, and see how you feel about the shape and colour. If the size is wrong, you can swap it: within 14 days of receiving your order, you can exchange an unused set for the right size in our returns portal, or return it unworn and complete in its original packaging. You pay the return postage, and we send the new size free of charge. Our UK size guide helps you get it right first time.
  • 2 weeks before: do a second trial, or wear them for your hen do. This is your chance to see how they behave in real life.
  • 1 week before: prepare your natural nails. Push back the cuticles and keep your hands moisturised.
  • The evening before: apply the set, following our step by step guide. That way the first 2 to 4 hours without long contact with water are well behind you by the morning.
  • The morning: nothing to do. No appointment, no drying time, no rush.
  • Afterwards, whether that is the day after or the end of the honeymoon: soak your hands in warm soapy water for a few minutes, lift each nail gently from the side with the cuticle pusher, and never pull a dry nail off. Clean the set and store it in its box for the next occasion.

Wear time is 1 to 2 weeks with the tabs, about 10 days on average, so a set applied the evening before the wedding should see you through the day and well into a short honeymoon. Pack a few spare tabs and the cuticle pusher, just in case. The full picture is in how long press-on nails last.

Bridesmaids and guests

If you want the bridal party to match, pick one colour for everyone. Each person orders her own size, though. Hands are not the same, and matching a size to a friend rarely works. Our size guide shows how to measure the widest point of each nail in mm.

If someone does not know her size, the Beginnerset Reflected, our starter set with sizes S, M and L in one box, is a way to find out. It is a nude with a mirror-like chrome shine, with 30 nails in sizes S, M and L (there is no XS in it).

Wedding guest nails do not need to be complicated. Prosecco is a warm, festive choice, Rosy Dew gives a hint of shimmer, and Classic French is always right when you are unsure what the dress code means. If the wedding is in winter, our Christmas party nails guide has more ideas.

For the hen do, one set can go from the hen do to the wedding with fresh tabs. A set can be worn three to five times, so a weekend away does not use it up.

Order in good time for summer

If you are getting married in summer, plan a little further ahead. According to the ONS, August was the most popular month to get married in England and Wales in 2023, with 14.3% of all marriages, so it is worth ordering early and leaving time for a trial run.

Frequently asked questions

When should I put on press-on nails before my wedding?

The evening before. That way the 2 to 4 hours without long contact with water are behind you, and on the morning there is nothing left to do. Do a trial run 4 to 6 weeks before so you know it all works.

Will they last through the wedding and honeymoon?

With adhesive tabs, wear time is 1 to 2 weeks, about 10 days on average. A set applied the evening before the wedding should get you through the day and into the honeymoon, depending on how often your hands are in water.

What if my size is wrong?

Measure the widest point of each nail in mm. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one and file the sides down in a few strokes. If the set is still not right, you can exchange an unused set for the right size within 14 days of receiving it, or return it unworn and complete in its original packaging. Both go through our returns portal; you pay the return postage and we send the new size free of charge.

Can my bridesmaids wear the same set?

Yes, for the colour. Everyone orders her own size, so each set fits properly. The sizes are XS, S, M and L.

Can I wear press-ons if I usually have short nails?

Yes. The tab needs a little nail to sit on, and that is all. Round and Oval Short give the most natural look on short nails. Measure carefully, and if one nail is a little narrower than the rest, file a spare down at the sides to fit it.

How do I take them off after the wedding?

Soak your hands for a few minutes in warm soapy water. Lift each nail gently from the side with the cuticle pusher, moving slowly back and forth. Never pull a dry nail off. You do not need acetone, and no filing is needed.

How to measure your nail

  1. Measure the widest part of your nail, from side to side.
  2. No measuring tape? Wrap a strip of paper around your nail, mark both edges and measure the strip flat with a ruler.
  3. Note the width in millimetres and look up your size in the chart.

Width per size

The sizes in the chart refer to the width of your nail. You choose the length with the shape.

Good to know

  • Not every finger a perfect match? Pick the size that fits most fingers.
  • Between two sizes? Go for the larger one: filing a nail down a little is always possible, too small never fits.
  • Still in doubt? The Beginnerset Reflected contains every size from S to L, so you are always covered.
  • Picked the wrong size after all? We exchange an unused set for the right size within 14 days; you pay the postage to send it back to us.
