Keep your hands out of water for the first 2 to 4 hours so the tabs can bond. With the adhesive tabs included, they stay on for 1 to 2 weeks, about 10 days on average, and they come off just as easily. Soft gel is sturdier and more flexible than the fake nails you find on the shelf, so you can file them, paint over them and wear the same set 3 to 5 times with fresh tabs.
