Hands get more attention at a wedding than most people expect. There are the ring close-ups, the bouquet, the glass raised for a toast and a lot of hugging afterwards. If you are getting married, standing beside someone who is, or simply invited, it helps to have your nails sorted well before the morning arrives. Handmade soft gel press-on nails are a calm way to do that, without a salon booking or a lamp. This guide covers wedding nails for brides, bridesmaids, hens and guests in Australia, with a practical timeline you can follow.
When Australians get married, and why it matters for your nails
The Easy Weddings Industry Report 2025 found that November is the most popular month for weddings (15 per cent of couples), followed by March (13 per cent) and October (12 per cent). June and July are the quietest, at 4 and 3 per cent. The Australian Bureau of Statistics says the same thing in its own words: "higher numbers of marriages occurred in autumn and spring, while lower numbers occurred in winter and over the Easter and Christmas periods".
What that means for you is fairly simple. Many Australian weddings happen in spring or early autumn, and a lot of them are outdoors, in a garden, on a beach or at a winery. That brings warm weather, sunscreen, sand and a fair bit of time on your feet. It is also a good reason not to rely on a single salon slot. Nails you can put on yourself, and put on again, take some pressure away.
The trial run advantage
This is the part brides tend to like most. Because a press-on set is reusable, you can do your trial run with the very same set you will wear at the wedding. Put it on a few weeks ahead, see how the shade looks with your ring and your dress fabric, and check the shape feels comfortable. Then take it off gently with warm soapy water and keep it safe until the day. There are no trial appointments to book, and nothing is wasted on a practice round. You simply use fresh adhesive tabs the second time.
Bridesmaids can do the same thing together while getting ready. Each set takes about ten minutes to put on, so it fits neatly into the morning between hair and makeup.
A simple timeline
Six weeks out
Choose your shade and shape, and measure your nails. Measure each nail at its widest point in millimetres, and if you land between two sizes, take the larger one. Our size guide walks you through it. Every set comes with 10 nails plus 5 spares in your size (XS, S, M or L), in the shapes Round, Oval Short, Square Short and Oval Long. Order at least four to six weeks before the wedding. Delivery to Australia takes about 7 business days with no import charges to pay on delivery, and the extra time leaves room for a trial and a size swap if needed. You will find the details on our delivery and exchanges page.
When your parcel arrives
Before you stick anything on, hold each nail against your own to check the fit. If the size is not quite right, an unused set can be exchanged within 14 days. You pay the postage to send it back to us. Because the set travels back to us first, this is exactly why the early order matters.
Two to four weeks out
Do your trial run. Wear the set for a day or two, ideally somewhere you will be moving around, and see how it feels with your ring and your dress fabric.
The day before or the morning of
Put the set on again with fresh adhesive tabs. The nails are made to wear for 1 to 2 weeks, about 10 days on average, so either timing works. Choose whichever suits your morning.
Looks for brides
Most brides go soft, milky or French, and these are the shades we would point you towards first:
- Classic French: a soft pink base with a crisp white tip.
- Mashmellow: milky pinky white, clean and polished.
- Vincent's Blossom: soft nude pink, a natural look.
- Rosy Dew: rosy nude with a fine cat-eye effect.
- Prosecco: champagne nude with a warm, festive glow.
- Cameo Nude: warm beige pink, our most versatile nude.
For shape, Oval Short or Round are practical when you are holding a bouquet and hugging half the room. Oval Long gives a more elegant line if you like that look and are comfortable in it. You can browse everything in our bridal and wedding nails, and our French tips if a classic white tip is what you have in mind.
Looks for bridesmaids, hens and guests
Bridesmaids can match the bride's shade or take their colour from the dress. A guest's job is to complement the outfit, not to outshine the bride, so keep your nails in step with what you are wearing. Some ideas:
- Dusty Rose: a soft dusty rose that suits most dresses.
- Gentle Perfection: a muted rosewood, quiet and easy to wear.
- Royal Orchid: a rich red purple, lovely for an evening wedding.
- Lagoon Escape: lagoon blue with a mirror-like chrome shine, a fun choice for a beach wedding guest.
For a hens party or an engagement party, the same logic applies, only with more room to play. You can put a set on in about ten minutes the evening before, and if you are not sure of your size, the Beginnerset Reflected is a nude with a chrome shine and comes with 30 nails in sizes S, M and L in one box.
Outdoor, beach and summer weddings
Warm weather is normal here, and it is worth planning around. Put sunscreen and hand cream on after your nails, never before. Keep your hands out of water for the first two to four hours after application, so avoid a pool or ocean dip in that window. If you are curious how the nails behave in summer conditions, we cover it in how long press-on nails last in the heat.
On the day, step by step
Shower first, then nails. Then follow this order:
- Start with clean, dry hands, and no hand cream beforehand.
- Push your cuticles back.
- Wipe each nail with an alcohol wipe.
- Stick an adhesive tab on your own nail, not on the press-on. Then place the press-on on top, starting at the cuticle, and press for 15 to 30 seconds.
- Keep your hands out of water for the first two to four hours.
Your box includes 150 adhesive tabs, a nail file, a cuticle pusher and 5 alcohol wipes.
After the wedding
Since the set is reusable, it does not have to end at the reception. Remove it gently with warm soapy water, with no acetone, no drill and no lamp, and keep it for the honeymoon or a special dinner afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
How early should I order?
At least four to six weeks before the wedding. That covers delivery of about 7 business days, a trial run and a size exchange if you need one.
Will they last through the reception?
Yes, they are made to wear for 1 to 2 weeks, about 10 days on average, so a wedding day and night sits well within that when they are applied properly.
Can I do a trial with the same set?
Yes. Because the set is reusable, you can wear it for your trial, remove it with warm soapy water and put it back on for the wedding with fresh adhesive tabs. Check the fit before the trial, though: only an unused set can be exchanged.
What if the size is wrong?
An unused set can be exchanged for the right size within 14 days. The postage to send it back to us is yours. That is why we suggest checking the fit as soon as your parcel arrives, before your trial run.
